Business days between two dates

A business-day count is a calendar count with the weekend removed. Enter two dates, choose which weekend days are non-working in your workplace, and get the working-day total — with the holiday caveat stated up front, not buried.

About holidays: this calculator does not subtract public holidays. Holiday calendars differ by country, region and employer, and DaysBetween does not ship a specific country's list or pretend one list fits everyone. To finish the count for your workplace: take the business days above and subtract the public holidays that fall on weekdays inside your span.

Worked example

From Sunday, 11 October 2026 to Friday, 25 December 2026 there are 75 calendar days. Removing the 10 Saturdays and 11 Sundays leaves 54 business days (Monday–Friday). A workplace that works Sundays but not Saturdays would count 65 instead — which is exactly why the two weekend days are separate switches here rather than one fixed "weekend" rule.

The counting convention matches the rest of this site: the span is the 75 days that elapse from the start date up to the end date (the start date counts, the end date does not), and "count the end date too" adds that final day if it is a business day. Why the convention matters →

Questions, answered

Why do some workplaces count one more or one less than this tool?

Almost always the endpoints. Payroll and HR systems differ on whether the first and last day of a period are inside it. This page states its convention in plain words and gives you the inclusive toggle, so you can reproduce either convention and see which one your payslip uses.

What about Friday–Saturday weekends?

Some countries work Sunday to Thursday. Untick "Sundays are not business days" and instead treat Friday manually: count Monday–Friday business days here, then subtract the Fridays in your span. A dedicated weekend-pattern selector is on the Pro roadmap; the manual route is stated rather than hidden.

Can I count business days from today?

Yes — set the start date to today and the end to your deadline. The homepage calculator has the same business-day mode alongside the plain day count.
